At the October Barlow Trustee meeting we were talking about the fact that we are on virtual lockdown running into the Festive season, Christmas Markets are being cancelled all over and the Parish Council have cancelled the Poppies on lamp posts and Christmas lights switch on……. we really want to try to fill this void for our community in some way whilst complying with all guidelines etc. We are convening our next meeting in just two weeks so that we can make decisions….
I would like to canvass opinion in the community regarding the potential of asking BwD if FOR THIS YEAR ONLY we move the site of the village Christmas Tree from Bolton Road, to just off Bolton Road, at the side of the Barlow and at the Bolton Road end of the Cricket Club. We can then use the Christmas Tree as the centre of our ‘Lockdown Village Festive Season’ and have a number of Christmas events with the tree taking centre stage, such as carol singing, moving the Christmas Fair outside, having a Winter Wonderland food festival, a performance by our very ADA Drama and Dance Group etc…. All fully compliant with Covid guidelines, but with much more leeway for social activity whilst we are in lockdown…..
All ideas and suggestions will be considered!
