Richard Haydock was born in Turton in 1892, the son of Andrew Haydock, a machine minder. He worked as a clerk in Chadwick’s Eagley Mills and was a former Secretary of Turton Football Club and member of Saint Anne’s Church Choir . Richard was living at 9 Tower Street, Chapeltown. He joined the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment but sadly was killed in action in Flanders on 31 May 1917 at the age of 25.
